The NCP Saturday Showcase is a feature story that recognizes students, staff and alumni for their exceptional achievements and contributions to the school community. This week, we have the pleasure of recognizing Ellijah Emerson, an eighth grade student at Parke Heritage Middle School.
Ellijah is a motivated young person with big dreams and an active way of making them happen. He is committed to improving himself and helping his community, which is clear from the many roles and goals he has. As a junior firefighter for the Bellmore Fire Department, Ellijah has taken steps toward helping others and advancing his skills. He joined the department with the goal of obtaining his Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification, enabling him to provide even greater assistance to those in need.
This past summer, Ellijah extended his service to the community by volunteering for the police department training sessions held at Parke Heritage High School. These sessions, attended by police officers from multiple states, provided Ellijah with invaluable experience and insights into law enforcement operations.
Ellijah also challenged himself physically by participating in a Spartan Race, under the guidance of School Resource Officer Cameron Martin and PHMS teacher Amanda Martin. To prepare for the race, he committed to running six miles to Rockville and back at least once a week. Despite the race's dry and hot conditions, Ellijah was challenged to complete the race through the encouragement of SRO Cameron and Mrs. Martin.
Ellijah is taking the classes of Personal Finance, Agriculture, and Algebra to earn high school credits. These classes will assist him as he prepares for his high school years.
Ellijah is still figuring out his future plans, but his current activities show he is committed to helping others, working hard, and staying strong. By being active in school and the community, he is setting himself up for success. His actions encourage others to work hard and chase their own dreams with energy and passion.
The Saturday Showcase provides a platform for students, staff and alumni to be acknowledged for their accomplishments and serves as inspiration for others to strive for excellence. If you would like to submit a nomination, please complete this form.
